Tropical Adventure Day 

Tuesday, April 8 

Ages infant – 12 years with caregiver 

9:00 am – 9:00 pm  

Paddle a canoe or catch a ride on the biggest wave to the Islip Public Library! Join us in the Children’s Room for a memorable day filled with fun activities, colorful decorations, crafts, and a visit from a very special Wayfinder. Hang ten!

• Hei Hei for a Day Scavenger Hunt: This mischievous rooster is hiding in the Children’s Room. Find our feathery friend and get a prize! 

• Crafts for our smallest islanders: Color a canoe and sandcastle. 

• Crafts for our school-age islanders: Create tissue paper tropical fish, colorful sand art in a bottle, and more, while supplies last! 

• Activities: Connect Four, karaoke, and Wayfinder Princess meet and greet.

Writing Contest 

Grades K – 5 

• Come to the Children’s Desk and pick up a blank book starting on Monday, March 10, while supplies last. 

• Write and illustrate your own story and submit it to a children’s librarian by Saturday, April 12, for a chance to win a prize. One entry per child. 

• Three winners will be announced on Monday, April 14, for children in grades kindergarten through first grade, second through third grade, and fourth through fifth grade. 

• Winning entries will be catalogued and displayed in the Children’s Department for one year for guests to borrow.

Wayfinder Princess Meet and Greet 

Tuesday, April 8 

5:30 – 7:30 pm 

Ages infant – 12 years with caregiver 

Listen to the Wayfinder Princess read a story and then have a picture taken with her!
